EV warrior and down-under rich guy Simon Hackett just smashed the world record for distance driven on a single charge in a production electric vehicle—313 miles! While competing in the bi-annual Global Green Challenge, a cross-continental rally of solar, electric, hybrid, and alternative energy vehicles, Hackett and his co-driver Emilis Prelgauskas simultaneously crushed the previous record of 241 miles, also set in a Tesla Roadster.
Mr. Hackett is a true green enthuz, and we thank all deep-pocketed tree huggers out there for their contributions to the EV evolution/revolution. Without them, we’d be forced to rely on big companies who let corporate agendas and political loyalties cloud their vision. Remember the GM EV1? Our hats are off to you Simon Hackett!
The entire story is written and posted by Simon himself on the Tesla Motors blog. Check it out right here.

No, it’s not a hybrid, but it is a plug-in electric with a top speed of 46 mph and a trail of destruction in its wake. And as far as I’m concerned, that makes for great blog fodder. Dubbed “The Crippler” by those who’ve experienced its its wrath, this crazy-ass mobility scooter is not your grandmother’s Lark. Rather, “The Crippler” is a deathtrap—pure and simple!

First released at the Frankfurt Auto show, then as a revamped version for LA, the crew at Auto Union unveiled their latest iteration of the Audi e-tron concept at the Detroit Auto Show this week. Dubbed of all things, Audi e-tron Detroit Concept, this Motown machine is expected to boogie. With 2 motors putting 204 battery-powered ponies to the rear wheels and a what-the-fuck-were-they-thinking 1,955 ft lbs of torque, this is one hot plug in. Expect this techno-speeder to hit the road in about 2 years.

We know that regenerative braking and all sorts of other techno-goodies go into charging the batteries in your hybrid. But, if there were a way to help recharge them by listening to tunes, would certain songs do a better job of it? And if so, what would those songs be?
We convinced the Hybrid Cars resident music snob to take some time out of his busy schedule and help us out. So, instead of pontificating about John Prine’s heavy influence on Buckwheat Zydeco’s accordion arrangements, he put together this list of 5 songs guaranteed to juice your cathodes:

Small time US automaker Revenge debuted their Verde at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. The head honcho's over at Revenge have had their hand in quite a few parts bins; the aluminum chassis is derived largely from the Ford GT. For the powertrain, you get three options:
