To add insult to injury, the new law banning single-occupant Toyota Prius’ from California HOV lanes actually gives the Chevy Volt a free pass.
That’s right, at midnight on December 31, 2010, over 85,000 Toyota Prius owners will have their highly-prized, yellow HOV stickers revoked. That means the days of gliding by in the carpool lanes all by yourself are over—unless you drive a Chevy Volt, a Tesla Roadster or Honda Civic GX.
Though, it seems like a setback for mass hybrid adoption, there’s a little part of us that just can’t wait to see those pretentious Prius pigs (you know who you are) reduced to the level of us common commuters.
