Prius' Baby Brother

In their goal to sell one billion hybrid vehicles, Toyota knows it needs to expand beyond the Prius line. Meet the Toyota FT-CH Hybrid Concept. Measuring in at about the same size as the Yaris, the FT-CH will be even more fuel efficient than its Prius older brother. Expect to see this urban cruiser in 2012 with a sticker price just south of $20K.

Put this one straight into the “WTF were you thinking file.” Toyota, in all their misguided wisdom, seems to have gotten full of themselves with the success of the Prius. Crafted by Toyota's in-house accessories division, the Toyota Prius Custom Plus Concept seems to be an attempt to Fast & Furious-ize the world’s most popular hybrid. But in reality, it looks more like an Art Center drop-out’s wet dream. If we’re lucky, we won’t see this nightmare on the streets anytime soon.

World Record EV Run Smashed by Tesla!

The Record Breakers

EV warrior and down-under rich guy Simon Hackett just smashed the world record for distance driven on a single charge in a production electric vehicle—313 miles! While competing in the bi-annual Global Green Challenge, a cross-continental rally of solar, electric, hybrid, and alternative energy vehicles, Hackett and his co-driver Emilis Prelgauskas simultaneously crushed the previous record of 241 miles, also set in a Tesla Roadster.

Mr. Hackett is a true green enthuz, and we thank all deep-pocketed tree huggers out there for their contributions to the EV evolution/revolution. Without them, we’d be forced to rely on big companies who let corporate agendas and political loyalties cloud their vision. Remember the GM EV1? Our hats are off to you Simon Hackett!

The entire story is written and posted by Simon himself on the Tesla Motors blog. Check it out right here.

We think they would.
